RESPECT-K University of Nairobi -CHIVPR Service Providers Training Report

The UoN-CHIVPR MARPs Project carried out the RESPECT-K risk reduction counseling Evidence Informed Behavioural Intervention service providers training for its counseling staff. The training took place from the 10th-13th February (4 days) at Luke Hotel, Thika.

The MARPs project female staff members were trained on the adapted Sister to

Sister-Kenya from 17th to 19th February, 2014.  Sister to Sister-Kenya is an Evidence based Behavioural Intervention (EBI) that aims

to build the self-efficacy and skills of women in  order to reduce their risk for

HIV/AIDS. The slogan for the intervention is 'Respect Yourself, Protect Yourself,

Because You are Worth it!'

The Director Centre for HIV Prevention and Research on Wednesday 12th  February  2014 had a consultative meeting with the Health committee members of the Meru Country Assembly at the Meru slopes hotel.  The purpose of the meeting which was attended by a total of nineteen participants comprising of eighteen County Member of assembly who are members of the Health sub-committee and The County Cabinet Secretary of health was to sensitize the county leadership on the activities being undertaken in Meru county by the Centre for HIV Prevention and research.

The MARPs Project Evidence Based Intervention (EBI) training was held at the Multi-media University from Monday 16th December to Tuesday 17th December 2013 where the staff was trained on the new EBIs and data collection tools.  There after, the planning workshorp for year four was held at the same venue from 17th December to 19th December 2013.
